Prizes Awarded

At last the cash prize of £2230 was awarded to Stephanie from Auckland, New Zealand for selecting the closest pixel position. She commented:

“This is awesome news, we are currently on holiday with our 3 children in Italy, living our dream, so it is a great bonus win”

Five runners up prizes to the value of £100 each were also awarded.

Winners notified

A few days ago we notified the winner and 4 runners up via email of the good news. Only 2 of the runners up have responded – so, if you entered the competition, check your email!

Winning position selected

Today our professional football referee Stephen Sherry chose the winning coordinates as:
X 384 Y 114
“In my skilled opinion as a Class 5 Referee, registered with Berks and Bucks FA, with over 10 years experience, this is the position of the ball.”

No one selected the correct pixel position so we will be selecting the closest to. There have been no duplicate positions so tie breaker judgement will not be required.

We are now in the process of identifying and contacting the 5 winners.

Referee as Judge

We are in the process of contacting the grade 5 professional football referee that has agreed to act as judge for our competition.

We were careful not to communicate the specifics of the site or competition to the referee when we originally contacted them a few weeks ago so that there could be no accusations of possible cheating. They didn’t even know our names until today!

Now that the competition has closed we have sent the referee instructions of how to proceed. We hope to have their decision within a few days…..

Prize fund

Despite our genuine best efforts we had a very disappointing number of tickets sold which resulted in a total income of just £4200.

Our expenditure was in excess of £9000 with the largest costs being printed adverts (£3000) and Solicitor. We are therefore at a substantial loss but are nevertheless happy to stand by our promise to entrants by awarding prizes.

As per our published terms and conditions this means that a prize fund of £2730 will be used to fund the winner’s cash prize and 5 runner up iPod nano prizes.

COMPETITION CLOSED TO NEW ENTRANTS

Although we have not sold the target quantity of tickets for our home to be the prize, we have decided not to extend our competition.

Instead we have closed the doors to new entrants and will engage the services of a professional football referee to choose the winning position for the ball.

A cash prize will be awarded to one lucky winner instead of our home.

Not the outcome we were all aiming for but someone that entered will still become a winner!
